Zephyr Mountain Lodge hired StarView Communications to install a 48 channel cable television system to service their entire 220 room property. This installation took about 7 days to complete and required several thousand feet of wire and 22 amplifiers do to improper wire type originally installed during construction. This wire type caused severe loss of cable frequency's and had to be compensated for by the use of amplifiers. The Zephyr Mountain Lodge is a rustic and contemporary ski-in/ski-out lodge with a slope side location just 110 feet from the Zephyr Express Lift. It's as close as you can sleep to the lifts without sleeping outside. StarView Communications saved Zephyr Mountain Lodge 50% on their cable television bill from their local cable company by switching to DISH Network and StarView Communications.
Some of Zephyr Mountain Lodge Highlights:
Below is the letter to the home owners of Zephyr Mountain Lodge sent after the completion of the cable project. Cable TV Update in the Zephyr Buildings by Doug Johnson"The Cable TV Committee is pleased to report that the conversion from Comcast to Dish TV has been completed on time and ten percent under budget. The Dish TV channel lineup is nearly identical at a monthly programming cost of less than half Comcast. The set top boxes are gone; the channels are now selected on the TV. The programming guide is on channel 2, or you can refer to your in room guest guide. Local TV [officially channel 17] can be found on channel 5 [where it was some 20 years ago]. Our property manager visited each and every room, did a TV scan to identify the new channels, checked the signal level with a professional tester, and did a visual inspection of the picture. A few rooms made it to a punch list, and they have all been satisfactorily addressed for the 2009/10 season. In many rooms the original remote controls for the Phillips TV’s could not be located so your HOA provided a new [RCA branded] remote. You should be able to just walk into your condo, turn on the TV, and start flipping channels. If you have problems in your individual unit, call the Front Desk and someone will be assigned to resolve the issue. The Cable TV Committee is quite pleased with the neatness and quality of the back end installation, which was done by StarView Communications of Colorado Springs. We were able to successfully utilize the existing wiring to individual condos, which saved greatly on costs. And the system can be expanded to 116 channels. Zero failures occurred during the first 30 days of operation. And in case you are wondering, our satellite dishes are heated to minimize the effects of snow and ice....." Thanks go to Tom Goldberg, Charlie Kennamer, and Doug Johnson of the Cable TV Committee; John Kalinauskas of HomeOwner Relations who had the lead for Intrawest; and Don Berg of StarView Communications.
